Counting of votes is still going on after the national election in Pakistan. Along with that, the unofficial and unofficial results are being announced.
Independent candidates backed by former Prime Minister Imran Khan's party Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are leading in the results. Local and international media are saying so.
According to Al Jazeera's latest results, results for 146 of the 265 seats in the National Assembly (voting was suspended for one of the 266 seats) have been declared so far. Independent candidates have won 60. Most of which are supported by PTI.
Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif's party Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) won 43 seats. Young leader and former foreign minister Bilawal Zardari Bhutto's Pakistan People's Party secured 37 seats. And other teams got 6.
According to Al Jazeera, the results started coming in about 12 hours after voting for the national and provincial assemblies ended on Thursday. Results are still to be declared in 119 constituencies.
Meanwhile, according to the results of the Election Commission of Pakistan, the results of 81 constituencies have been announced so far. PTI supporters are ahead in this too. They gained 29 seats. Second in place PML-N got 27. PPP 18 and other parties 7.
