Israeli airstrike killed Hezbollah's top commander

Israel carried out airstrikes in the southern part of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. A top commander of Hezbollah was killed. Reuters reported citing two sources.


There has been a lot of tension between Lebanon and Israel for the past few days due to Hezbollah's pager and walkie-talkie explosions.


Meanwhile, on Friday (September 20), Hezbollah launched hundreds of rocket attacks in the northern part of Israel in a few hours. Israel responded with airstrikes.


According to reports, the air strike was carried out in the southern suburbs of Beirut. A Hezbollah commander named Ibrahim Akil was killed in this.


Several members of Hezbollah's elite Radwan unit were holding a meeting, a Reuters source said. During the meeting a air attack killed commander Akil and some members. 


The Israeli military confirmed the killing of Ibrahim Akil in an airstrike in Beirut. According to an IDF statement, Akil was the head of Hezbollah's military operations, deputy commander of the terror group's elite Radwan Force, and mastermind of plans to invade Galilee.
