A complaint filed against Mamata for 'provocative' speech

A complaint has been filed against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for making a 'provocative' statement using the name of BJP-ruled states in India. The complaint was filed with the Delhi Police Commissioner by Supreme Court of India lawyer Vineet Jindal. News from Hindustan Times.

A massive protests have been ongoing for the past three weeks following the rape and murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. First, ordinary citizens joined the protest along with the students. However, then the main opposition party in the state BJP has joined the students and people. It's leaders are demanding Mamata's resignation.

On Wednesday (August 28), Mamata Banerjee, at a public meeting in Kolkata on the occasion of Trinamool Chhatra Parishad's foundation day, alleged that some people are trying to destabilize the state by using their party.

He said that if the BJP sets fire to West Bengal, the BJP-ruled states will "not stop". In his words, `some people think that this is Bangladesh. I love Bangladesh. They talk like us. Their culture, our culture is the same. But remember, Bangladesh is a separate state. Bhavatvarsh is a separate state.'

Addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she said, 'Modibabu, are you setting fire using your party? Remember, if Bengal is set on fire, Assam will not stop. The Northeast will not stop either. Uttar Pradesh will not stop either. Bihar also will not stop. Jharkhand will not stop either. Orissa will not stop. And Delhi will not stop either. We will make your chair wobble.'

Since this warning, the Chief Ministers of the BJP-ruled states have reacted one after another against Mamata Banerjee. Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on his X handel said, 'How dare you threaten the North East? I strongly condemn such irresponsible comments. You should apologize for that. The divisive politics must be stopped immediately.'

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath opposed Mamata's comments. On the X handle, he wrote, 'Trinamool government's anti-women behavior is a shame of democracy.'

After that, an FIR was lodged against her in Delhi. Lawyer Vineet Jindal filed the complaint against Mamata under sections 152, 192, 196 and 353 of the IPC. He also said that the copy of the complaint has been sent to the President and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Lawyer Jindal, who filed the FIR, said `Mamata Banerjee told a public meeting of Trinamool student wing members, 'Remember, if you burn Bengal, Assam, North-East, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Delhi will also burn. We will shake the Prime Minister's chair. It is clear that this statement is instigating, provocative and anti-national in nature.'
