After Australia, the starting day of Ramadan or the first day of fasting has been announced in more three countries. The countries are Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei.
On Sunday, Australia's Grand Mufti, in collaboration with the Australian Federal Council of Imams, the Australian Fatwa Council and the Fatwa and Sharia Arbitration Council, confirmed that the month of Sha'ban will end on Monday (11 March). Tuesday will be the first day of Ramadan.
Australia is often the first country in the world to announce the start of Ramadan due to its geographical location and moonrise.
As Australia is in the Eastern Hemisphere and has an earlier time than many other countries, Islamic lunar months often start earlier here than in countries in the Western Hemisphere.
The month of Ramadan will begin on Tuesday as the moon is not sighted in Brunei. It has been announced that the first fast will be observed on Tuesday due to the lack of sighting of the moon in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Indonesia's Ministry of Religion has also announced that tomorrow will be Monday, the 30th of the month of Shaban. So Tuesday is the first day of Ramadan.
Meanwhile, moon sighting committees in the Arab world are preparing for Ramadan moon sighting after Maghrib prayers today. Saudi Arabia's Royal Court urges common people to see the moon. Along with this, official phone numbers are also provided to report the moon sighting.
