Australia has announced the start date of the holy month of Ramadan. The country has officially announced that Monday (March 11) will be the last day of the month of Shaban. The holy month of Ramadan will begin the next day, Tuesday (March 12). Gulf News reported.
According to the report, the Grand Mufti of Australia, in coordination with the Federal Council of Imams, the Australian Fatwa Council and the Council of Fatwa and Sharia Arbitration, has confirmed that the month of Shaban will end on Monday. Then the fast will start from Tuesday.
According to Gulf News, Australia is the first country in the world to announce the date of fasting due to its geographical location and earlier moonrise. Australia is located in the eastern hemisphere of the world and the country is ahead of other countries in terms of time.
Islamic lunar month start earlier in Australia than in countries in the Western Hemisphere. Meanwhile, on Sunday (March 10), preparations have been made to see the holy Ramadan moon in other countries of the Middle East including Saudi Arabia.

Basically, the crescent moon is visible to the naked eye. Fasting in the Middle East will begin on Monday (March 11) when the Ramadan moon is sighted on Sunday evening. In that case, the devout Muslims of this region will perform the Tarawi prayer after the Esha prayer on Sunday night and also have the first sehri on the last night.
On the other hand, if the moon is not sighted, the 30 days of the month of Shaban will be completed on Monday in Arab countries and the month of Ramadan will begin on Tuesday (March 12). In that case, Muslims in the Middle East will fast after Isha prayer on Monday and Tarawi prayer and Sehri on the last night.
