Gaza genocide: Nicaragua took Germany to ICJ

Nicaragua brought Germany to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the accusation of cooperation in Israel's genocide in Gaza. In a lawsuit put on the desk of the court, it alleges that Berlin violated the Genocide Charter by funding Israel in the Gaza conflict.

According to a report by Al Jazeera, Nicaragua sued Germany on Friday (March 1) for aiding Israel in genocide by providing financial and military aid. Germany has also been accused of suspending funds to the United Nations Palestine Refugee Agency (UNRWA).

The International Court of Justice said in a statement that Nicaragua argued that Germany was aiding the genocide in Gaza by providing political, financial and military aid to Israel and by suspending funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestinian refugees. In addition, Berlin has failed in all aspects to deal with the Gaza crisis.

Nicaragua has asked the International Court of Justice to order Germany to stop military aid to Israel and to issue urgent measures regarding other international law restrictions on the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian independence group Hamas attacked Israel on October 7 last year in response to more than a hundred years of massacres, unprecedented torture and desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. After that, Israel started invading the Gaza Strip. Which has been going on for the past five months.

The attack has already reduced all of Gaza to rubble. More than 30,000 Palestinians have been killed. More than 70 thousand were injured. Widespread displacement and famine have resulted. Out of 23 lakh inhabitants, about 6 lakh are currently under the grip of famine.

Israel is already accused of genocide in the International Court of Justice. Last December, South Africa filed a case against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government at the ICJ on charges of genocide.

Then, after a two-day hearing in January, ICJ judges ordered Tel Aviv to stop its genocidal actions and take measures to ensure humanitarian aid to Gaza's civilians in an interim ruling.

But the Israeli authorities did not listen to the instructions of the highest court of the United Nations. Devastation and genocide continue in Gaza.

Despite the condemnation of the international community, the West, especially the United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union, continue to support Israel in this genocide.
