‘War not over’: Iran vows to make Israeli enemy ‘miserable’ if aggression resumes

"know the war is not over," Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Abdolrahim Mousavi told IRIB on Tuesday, urging the broadcaster to keep the public vigilant and mindful of the Israeli threat.

‎Stressing that Iran will never be the one to initiate aggression, Mousavi warned that if fighting resumes, “we will inflict harsher blows on the enemy,” and that the “next phase” of Iran’s response will “make the enemy miserable.” The top general did not elaborate.

‎Iran’s ‘Operation True Promise’ series of strikes against Israel escalated in intensity over three iterations in April 2024, October 2024 and June 2025.

‎The first and second demonstrated Iran’s ability to pierce Israel’s much-vaunted missile shield, even using older and slower missiles, while June’s counterattack involved 100+ missile-a-night barrages, causing extensive damage to military bases, research centers and critical infrastructure.

‎On Sunday, the head of International Crisis Group’s Iran division said Iranian officials had conveyed to him that Iran’s next response may involve the simultaneous launch of up to 2,000 missiles to completely overwhelm Israeli defenses.
