Netanyahu fired Defense Minister Yoav Gallant

Israel's Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, has been fired by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has dismissed Security Minister Yoav Gallant, citing significant differences in managing "Israel's wars", according to the Prime Minister's office.

Israeli media citing captives' families: Gallant's dismissal an attempt by Netanyahu to impede exchange deal.

Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Netanyahu informed Defense Minister Gallant of his dismissal just 10 minutes before the public announcement.

Netanyahu is reportedly considering replacing IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi and Shin Bet Director Ronen Bar in the near future.

Meanwhile, clashes break out on Tel Aviv’s Ayalon Boulevard as protesters block the road in response to Gallant's dismissal.

Israeli opposition Leader Yair Lapid condemned Netanyahu’s decision to dismiss Security Minister Yoav Gallant amid an ongoing war, calling it “insane,” according to Israeli media.

Lapid accused Netanyahu of “sacrificing Israel’s security and the lives of Israeli soldiers for his own political survival.” He called on supporters of his Yesh Atid party, as well as all Israelis, to take to the streets tonight in protest.
