Russia condemns Pager attack in Lebanon

Russia has condemned the deadly Pager attack in Lebanon. Officials in the country said it was an apparent attempt to start a major war. The perpetrators must be held accountable for this. RT reported.

Thousands of pagers (wireless devices) used by Hezbollah members exploded across Lebanon last Tuesday (September 17). At least 12 people were killed and about 3 thousand were injured in that incident.

Hezbollah blamed Israel for the unprecedented Pager explosion. At the same time, it has expressed its determination to take "extreme revenge" for this attack. However, the Israeli state has neither admitted nor denied its responsibility.

According to a report by Sky News Arabia, Israel detonated hundreds of thousands of wireless telecommunication devices in a very elaborate plan. The report also noted that the pagers went to the Mossad before going to Hezbollah.

Russia has condemned the Pager blast, calling it a "terrible act of terrorism". In a statement on Wednesday (September 18), the country's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, "This is a terrible terrorist act considering the scale and the large number of casualties."

A separate statement from the Russian ministry said Moscow considered the massive explosion "the latest attack in the hybrid war against Lebanon." The masterminds of this high-tech attack aim to trigger a large-scale armed conflict. Their aim is to start a big war in the Middle East.

Russian officials have not blamed any particular party for the attack. However, it calls for a thorough investigation. The statement of the ministry said, "Everyone involved in this should be found." They must be held accountable, so that this act of terrorism is not 'shrouded in the ink' the way Western countries want to investigate the Nord Stream gas pipeline explosion.
