Biden will launch US military operations in the Middle East

US presidents Joe Biden will launch military operations in the Middle East in the coming hours, according to multiple reports.

The reports by CNN, USA Today and NBC News say, Biden told reporters on Tuesday (30 January) he has made a decision about the US response to the drone strike that killed three US troops and injured dozens in Jordan.

On Sunday (January 28), there was a massive drone attack on a US military base near the Syrian border in the northwest of Jordan. Three US soldiers lost their lives. 34 more were injured.

It was the first time American troops have been killed in the Middle East since the beginning of the Gaza war. In the first reaction of the attack, Biden immediately said that the attack was carried out by Iran backed forces active in Syria and Iraq. But Iran refused the claims.

The names of killed troops were revealed on Monday. They were identified as Sgt. William Rivers, 46, of Carrollton, Georgia; Sgt. Kennedy Sanders, 24, of Waycross, Georgia; and Sgt. Breonna Moffett, 23, of Savannah, Georgia. Sanders and Moffett were posthumously promoted from the rank of specialist to sergeant, the Army Reserve said.

Iran on high alert as Biden mulls response to killing of US troops. Tehran also the US via third party that if it strikes Iranian soil directly, Tehran will itself hit back at American assets in the Middle East which could draw the two sides into a direct conflict.
