Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had been added to a Kremlin wanted list.
Though the Russian Interior Ministry provided no details
about the charges leveled against Zelenskyy, it said that a case had been
opened against him "under an article of the criminal code."
The move is seen as largely symbolic, since Zelenskyy is not
on Russian soil.
More than two years ago Russia launched a special military operation with
Russian President Vladimir Putin urging Kyiv's military to overthrown Zelenskyy
in a national address.
Last year, Zelenskyy said that at least "five or six" attempts to assassinate him had been foiled since that time.
Ukraine's foreign ministry dismissed the reports of Zelenskyy's inclusion as evidence of "the desperation of the Russian state machine and propaganda."
