He is not a Palestinian. His home is also far away from Palestine. Still, Israel's genocide in Gaza of Palestine touched his heart.
He committed suicide by setting his body on fire in protest of the Israeli genocide of Palestinians. He is Aaron Bushnell, a member of the United States Air Force. To recognize and commemorate his sacrifice and bravery, a road in Palestine has been named after the 25-year-old young soul.
The road is in the occupied West Bank city of Jericho. Abdul Karim Sidr, the mayor of Jericho, unveiled the new nameplate of the road on Sunday after two weeks of his self immolation.
There was a huge gathering of people on the occasion of renaming the read. The mayor was saying to everyone, '"We didn't know him. He didn't know us either. We had no social, economic or political ties. What we have in common with him is the love of freedom, and the desire to speak out against Israel's attacks (in Gaza).''
Aaron Bushnell took the extreme path of speaking out against the attack on Gaza. The day was last February 25.
He appeared in military uniform outside the Israeli embassy in Washington. Did Live on social media.
He announced there, "I don't want to be involved in genocide". Then he set fire to his body. Even at the last moment of his life, his desperate plea was only one - freedom of Palestine.
After that chorred Bushnell was rescued by members of the law enforcement agencies and taken to hospital. But he could not be saved.
Israeli forces have been carrying out a bloody attack on Gaza since October 7. The strip has already been destroyed. The row of dead bodies of Palestinians is increasing every day in the valley.
So far more than 31 thousand unarmed Palestinians have been killed there. More 75 thousands have been critically injured. But they are getting any treatment.
While this brutal attack by Israel is being supported by the governments of most Western countries including the United States, the people of Gaza have taken a place in the hearts of ordinary people around the world.
From the east to the far west, they took to the streets in millions to protest Israel's relentless attacks and killing more and more Palestinians. Bushnell joined the ranks of these ordinary people.
Bushnell's sacrifice in support of the Palestinians is seen by the residents of Jericho as the strongest expression of solidarity.
One such city council member is Amani Ryan. The man, who grew up in Gaza, came to the West Bank at the age of 19 to study. Amani said, "He (Bushnell) sacrificed his most precious thing. This man gave up all his privileges for the children of Gaza.''
Jericho is a historic city in Palestine. One of the oldest cities where people never stopped walking. Aaron Bushnell Road is south of this town. The area is always crowded with houses and gardens.
Various games including horse races are organized. Aaron Bushnell Road is a branch of Mahmoud Darwish Road. Palestinians consider Mahmoud Darwish as the national poet.
