Hajj 2024: 7-year jail, SR5 Millions Fine for Collecting Fund Illegally During Pilgrimage

Collecting funds or money without permission during Hajj in Saudi Arabia is punishable by 7 years imprisonment. Besides, at least 50 million Saudi riyals will be fined. The Saudi authorities gave this instruction in an announcement.

According to Gulf News, Hajj pilgrims intending to participate in the upcoming Hajj have been warned in this regard. It has been said that collecting funds illegally will be punished severely.

The legal administration, Saudi Public Prosecution, said in a statement on its official X Hand, that collecting any kind of donation or cash without permission from the authorities is strictly prohibited and is a major crime.

The statement stressed that any attempt to cheat or mislead for financial gain will be strictly dealt with under the Anti-Financial Fraud and Trust Law.

The Act is specifically designed to prevent any fraudulent activities including fraudulent, lying or obtaining funds illegally by giving false information.

Even earlier warnings were given about donation collection. Also, begging is prohibited during the Hajj season. A statement from the country's public prosecution in June last year said that during the Hajj, alms or donations cannot be collected from any party without obtaining permission from the competent authorities.

The statement published on the Twitter account of the Saudi Public Prosecution also said that spoiling the Hajj environment to collect donations would be considered a major crime and arrest warrants would be issued.

Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam. Which must be observed by every adult, physically and financially able Muslim. The last month of the Islamic calendar takes place from the 8th to the 12th (in some cases the 13th) of Dhu Al Hijjah.
