China has urged Israel to stop its military operation in the Gazan city of Rafah “as soon as possible”, warning of a “serious humanitarian disaster” there if fighting did not stop, AFP reports.
“China […] opposes and condemns actions that harm civilians and violate international law,” a foreign ministry spokesperson said in a statement, adding it urged Israel to “stop its military operation as soon as possible, make every effort to avoid innocent civilian casualties […] to prevent a more serious humanitarian disaster in the Rafah area”.
Despite of international community's warnings Israel intensified on Rafah of Gaza. According to Mondoweiss, on Sunday night Israeli bombings on Rafah killed at least 67 Palestinians, including babies and children.
Israeli occupation army intensified attacks on Rafah where over 1 million Palestinians are sheltering, in preparation for a ground invasion that experts warn would amount to genocide.
The number of deaths is on the rise. According to Al Jazeera, Israel’s attacks on Gaza have killed at least 28,340 Palestinians and wounded 67,984 others since October 7.
According to Al Jazeera, CIA chief William Burns is in Cairo for the latest round of discussions on a truce that would temporarily halt fighting in exchange for the release of captives and Palestinian prisoners.
While Jordan’s King Abdullah II tells US President Joe Biden the world “cannot afford” Israel’s planned ground invasion on Rafah, where more than 1.4 million people are sheltering.
In the mean time Hamas says three more Israeli captives have been killed in Israel’s bombardment of the besieged Gaza Strip.
