Last October, the Energy Intelligence Forum oil and gas industry
leaders conference was held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Mayfair, London,
UK.
Environmental organizations Fossil Free London and
Greenpeace organized a demonstration in front of the hotel on October 18 during
the conference.
Hundreds of protesters including Thunberg participated in
that protest. Police arrested at least 20 people including Greta during the
protest. A case was filed against Greta and four others for disobeying the
instructions of the police.
District Judge John Law dismissed the case last Friday after the hearing. He said that no evidence of breaking the law was found against them.
The judge criticized the police in this case. He said that the police had imposed illegal conditions on the agitators.
After the case was dismissed, Greenpeace UK campaigner Maja
Darlington said there had been a victory for people who championed the right to
protest.
Greta left school at the age of 15 and started a movement
demanding climate protection. Later, Greta and her movement became popular
around the world. However, he had to get into legal trouble to protest.
Last October, Greta had to pay a fine in her home country of
Sweden. He was fined for obstructing the operation of Malmö port. A few months
earlier, he had been forcibly removed by police from an anti-coal protest in
Germany.
Recently, Greta expressed her support for the Palestinian
people during the Israel-Hamas conflict. Israel reacted strongly to this.
