US lawmakers demand Trump's removal ubder 25th Amendment
Washington- Several US senators have called for President Donald Trump’s removal under the 25th Amendment after his letter to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, in which he wrote that, since he was not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, he no longer feels an “obligation to think purely of Peace.”
In the letter, Trump also appears to link his interest in the United States taking over Greenland to being passed over for the prize.
Senator Ed Markey urged action in a post on X, writing, “Invoke the 25th Amendment,” alongside a screenshot of a New York Times headline covering the letter.
Other lawmakers, including Representatives Eric Swalwell, Sydney Kamlager-Dove, and Yassamin Ansari, have joined the call, with Ansari describing Trump as “extremely mentally ill.”
The 25th Amendment allows the president’s Cabinet to remove him if they determine he is mentally or physically unfit to carry out his duties.
